📋 Itinerary

Scottish Borders Tour starts from your hotel and then we head south down A68 to Melrose, stopping at the lovely Leaderfoot viaduct for a brief photo opportunity. We then head a short distance into the historic town of Melrose. Here we will visit the 12th century abbey, built in the reign of King David I . You will see some stunning medieval architecture and see the resting place of King Robert the Bruce’s heart and King Alexander II of Scotland. From here we shall head west toward Abbotsford House. Abbotsford House was the estate of the writer, poet, lawyer, statesman and patriot, Sir Walter Scott. View his stunning rooms, artefacts and art collections and the majestic views over the River Tweed. From here we will head to the visitor centre for a relaxing lunch, before heading over to Scott’s viewpoint. This is a stunning vista up on a hill facing the town of Melrose and the Eildons hill or Trimontium as it was known by the Romans. After Scott’s viewpoint we will head north towards Edinburgh and head for Rosslyn chapel. Built in the 1400’s by Sir William Sinclair it has had a very colourful past. With links to The Knights Templar, Holy Grail and featured in Dan Browns Da Vinci code it’s a must see for any borders trip. Not only that the architecture and stonemasonry is an unbelievable spectacle. How many Green men can you spot? After we have finished here we will take the short journey back into Edinburgh where you will be dropped off at your hotel or agreed location.
