Summer is firmly here to stay in the Cairngorms so why not visit Britain’s only free-ranging herd of reindeer in their natural habitat. It’s a time for shedding that thick winter coat, grazing and putting on weight for the reindeer as well as growing your new antlers! Visits go every day at 11am and 2.30pm (additional 3.30 in July & August) at this time of year, follow a reindeer herder as you make your way up to the mountain enclosure, walk amongst reindeer, stroking and feeding them as the herder tells you more about them. Situated in the centre of the Cairngorms National Park, you will also enjoy beautiful views of the Cairngorm Mountains. The walk takes around 20 minutes and will cross some rough and muddy ground on the mountainside so make sure you’ve got some sturdy footwear and some nice cosy layers! Don’t fancy the hill trip? For those less able, from Easter to New Year, we have a small group of reindeer in the paddock at the Centre itself, quizzes & Crafts.
