rona and Sula Sgier

On a clear day, the tiny islands of Rona and Sula Sgier are barely visible from Cape Wrath and the Butt of Lewis. Surrounded by the stormy Atlantic Ocean, these islands are the temporary home for seabirds and seals, which all come seeking a breeding sanctuary. St Ronan, an 8th Century monk who lived here, certainly chose a remote place for his retreat, and his beehive shaped cell still stands today.
