Starts in Alyth (near Perth) in the south and ends at Spey Bay on the Moray Coast in the north – via the Angus Glens of Doll and Clova, the Queen’s Balmoral Castle Estate on Royal Deeside, the eastern Cairngorms up to Tomintoul, on through Glens Livet and Fiddich to the malt whisky centre of Dufftown and passing by Fochabers and on to Spey Bay. The route passes by two of Scotland’s greatest salmon fishing rivers (Dee and Spey), some spectacular mountain scenery in the Cairngorms National Park, many historic landmarks (including Balmoral Castle), beautiful lochs and glens as well as several of the world’s best known malt whisky distilleries….. and finishing on the stunning Moray coast where you may catch a glimpse of the UK’s largest pod of bottle nose dolphins. Please note that Running The Highlands reserves the right to alter the route and/or vary the distance of a day’s run in the event of extreme weather conditions (i.e. for health and safety considerations).
