Major redevelopment in the Burns Memorial Garden at the Belmont Brae has been undertaken by Aberdeenshire Council. The refurbishment includes new flower beds, realigned paths and new benches. Red roses, heathers, honeysuckle and thyme – all plants which are associated with Burns’ work have been chosen for the redesigned flower beds. Members of the Horizon Project have planted 2 rowan trees and 2 climbing roses. The group have also helped Landscape Services with the planting out of the redesigned flower and shrub beds. The centrepiece of the garden – a bust of Robert Burns which was in need of repair, has been restored by Aberdeenshire Council.
